12-yr-old Muslim boy stripped, made to chant religious slogans in MP; 3 minors booked

Indore: A video purportedly showing a 12-year-old boy from a minority community made to chant religious slogans after being stripped in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore has surfaced on social media, following which the Indore police registered an FIR against the accused, three minors.
The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon. A 45-second video shows the boy crying out loud, looking extremely scared. The three accused, minors aged 13 to 15 years, are purportedly seen threatening him and making him chant religious slogans as well as slogans like ‘Hindustan Zindabad’ and ‘Pakistan Murdabad’. The victim and the three accused used to live in the same locality and their parents are labourers, the police said.
The police said the 12-year-old, who had shifted to another locality, was lured by the other boys by telling him they would give him toys. On this pretext, they allegedly took him to a secluded area near their locality, where the incident took place.
Based on a complaint from the 12-year-old’s parents, an FIR has been registered under sections 323 (causing hurt), 294 (obscene act in public place) and 365 (kidnapping for wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code.
An inspector in charge of the jurisdictional police station said, “The three boys have been granted bail from the police station after their parents gave surety for the bail. We will produce them before a juvenile court later. Their parents, who are labourers, were shocked and said they will take corrective measures.”
The police requested the media not to circulate the video.
