Police seize 16 vehicles, arrests 16 in Awantipora, Baramulla

Awantipora: Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, Police have seized 16 vehicles and arrested 16 persons in Awantipora and Baramulla.
In Awantipora, a Police party led by SHO Police Station Khrew under the supervision of SDPO Pampore seized eight vehicles (02 JCBs, 05 tippers & 01 loader) and arrested 08 persons for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Wuyan. Similarly, Police party led by SHO Police Station Awantipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora seized three vehicles (tippers) and arrested 3 persons involved in illegal extraction of sand at Hatiwara and Aghanjipora.
In Baramulla, officers from PS Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Shri Sajjad Bukhari-JKPS seized 5 vehicles (2 tippers, 3 tractors) and arrested 5 persons at Chakloo Baramulla for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals. They have been identified as Javid Ahmad son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat resident of Qazi Hamam Baramulla, Shabir Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Nabi Dar resident of Zoogiyar Sheeri, Manzoor Ahmad Ganie son of Ab Khaliq Ganie resident of Mohalla Khawaja Sahib Kakar Hamam Baramulla, Suhail Ahmad son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh resident of Chakloo and Mudasir Ahmad Sofi son of Ab Rahim Sofi resident of Chakloo Baramulla.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated, police said.
