110 BN CRPF celebrates 33rd Raising Day at Lethpora hqrs

PAMPORE: The 110 Battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), observed its 33rd Raising Day celebration with a Grand Mela at its headquarters in the Lethpora Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday. The Unit was raised on 8th April 1991 at Pallipuram, Kerala, and is deployed at Lethpora, Pulwama since 2007.
The function was inaugurated by Rimi Bhatia wife of IG operations CRPF M S Bhatia. IG Operations MS Bhatia was the chief guest on the Occasion, he extended best wishes to 110 BN and its members. DIG CRPF South Kashmir Alok Avasthy, Yogesh Purohit Commandant 110 Bn and other senior officers and jawans were present on the occasion.
Students of nearby schools, officers of nearby CRPF units, the Army and the officers of J&K Police and other civil organisations and locals of nearby villages were also invited.
The historic celebration of the daystarted with paying homage to the “brave martyrs” of the Unit who made supreme sacrifices for the cause of the nation. Yogesh Purohit, Commandant-110 Bn greeted the Officers, Subordinate Officers, Jawans and their families. He highlighted the contributions made by the Unit for the service to the state and country. He exhorted the officers and men to continue to exhibit a high degree of operational professionalism and give their best for the nation, officials told Kashmir Reader.
Stalls of various games and foods were set up by Unit personnel.
A variety of recreational activities, dance and inter coy sports competitions like badminton, volleyball, football, table tennis, tug of war and a dog show were organised during the course of celebrations.
The culmination was marked with the distribution of prizes to the winners by the Chief guest.
“Raising Day is an important event. It is like a birthday for the battalion and is celebrated with full zest and zeal,” IG CRPF said, adding that this year it has been given the shape of a mela in which different games are played and food stalls have been installed.
He said the CRPF is working out a strategy to ensure a peaceful Amarnath Yatra so that pilgrims take home good memories of the pilgrimage and Kashmir.
