NC asks govt to act tough on drug mafia

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference delegation on Tuesday visited Dangerpora area in Sopore to commiserate with the bereaved on the tragic death of their mother.
Party’s North Zone President Javed Dar led the party delegation. In Charge Constituency Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar was also part of the delegation. Among others local youth block presidents of Sopore, Dangarpora and Sangrama, and various local unit functionaries were also part of the visiting delegation.
Expressing serious concern over the slipping of youth into the dark alleys of drug menace, Javed Dar said, “Incidents like these are a chilling reminder of the vulnerability we as a society are confronted with in wake of the rising graph of drug addiction/ substance abuse. Theft, burglary, and murders of this beastly nature are interrelated with the wanton drug menace plaguing our youth. Government will do what it can, but we as a society have to come forward and take up initiatives to curb this burgeoning menace.”
Drug abuse spoils a number of human lives and also destroys the golden periods of life, he added. “To curb this menace, the government should come up with de-addiction centers with sufficient carrying capacity and medics to cater to such cases. The biggest challenge before the administration is to stop trafficking of such illicit drugs and substances. Investing in recreational activities including sports and arts can go a long way in the management of this menace.
