Awantipora: A photo exhibition depicting various birds of Kashmir valley was inaugurated today at Islamic University of Science and Technology. The exhibition inaugurated by Prof. Shakil Romshoo, Vice Chancellor IUST is organized by Wastoorwan Gallery of Art at IUST in collaboration with members of Birds of Kashmir Group. The exhibition will remain open till April 5.
The exhibition showcased more than 70 photographs depicting the endemic species of Kashmir Himalayas and summer and winter bird visitors of the valley. A video documentary on birding efforts in Kashmir, produced by Er Rashid was also screened on this occasion.
Prof. Shakil Romshoo praised the organizers for putting together this exhibition and highlighted the importance of getting students interested in birding and conservation. Prof. Fozia Qazi, Incharge of Wastoorwan Gallery of Art spoke about the role played by Birds of Kashmir in popularizing birding in Kashmir. Irfan Jeelani, representing Birds of Kashmir, explained how the group had evolved and how their work had resulted in increased sightings.
The inaugural event was also attended by DeanAcademic Affairs, Deans of various schools, Head of departments, university officers, students and members from Birds of Kashmir Group.
