Tehsildar Pampore directs meat shop owners to sell mutton at Rs 535 per kg

PAMPORE: Tehsildar Pampore Zuber Ahmad Bhat on Monday held a meeting with butchers of this Saffron Town at his office. He instructed them to adhere to government-approved rates for the meat.
The meeting was held after Tehsildar received complaints from people that mutton was sold at 650 rupees per kilogram in Pampore in the holy month of Ramadhan. He warned them of strict action for violating the norms. Tehsil official Mir Murwat Hussain was also present at the meeting.
Tehsildar Pampore asked the general public for contacting them if they found any meat seller selling meat at prices higher than those fixed by the government, officials told Kashmir Reader.
“In view of the holy month of Ramadhan we were receiving complaints that mutton was being sold at exorbitant rates in Pampore and adjoining areas,” Tehsildar Pampore told Kashmir Reader, adding that it was in this context that they invited all meat shop owners on Monday.
“The mutton shop owners were asked for selling mutton at government approved rates at 535 rupees per kg,” he said, adding that strict action will be taken against those found selling meat at a higher rate.
He also appealed to residents of Pampore Tehsil to bring it to his notice if they are charged at the higher rate for meat other than that approved by the government.
