Anjuman urges authorities to end Mirwaiz’s detention

Srinagar: Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar has extended its heartiest greetings and best wishes to the Muslims, especially the people of Jammu & Kashmir, on the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement, the Anjuman said that on the occasion of the first Friday of Ramadan, a large number of people, including men, women and youth, came to Jama Masjid from across the valley however, they were deeply disappointed due to the absence of Mirwaiz-e- Kashmir whose sermons filled the grand mosque with soul stirring sermons and preachings from quran .
Meanwhile, a spokesperson of the Anjuman on the occasion strongly reacted against the continuous detention of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir and said that this is the first time in the modern history of Kashmir when the largest place of worship in J&K had been closed for long , and now for the fourth consecutive year the pulpit and mihrab of the Central Jama Masjid Srinagar is silent in Ramadan , due to the continued detention of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, when people are eager to hear Qaal Allah Wa Qaal Ar Rasool (SAW) in this blessed month of Ramadan. This is a blatant breach in the religious matters of the muslims of valley , which is highly regrettable .
On the occasion, people raised their hands to strongly condemn the illegal and arbitrary detention of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir and raised a strong voice of protest against this behaviour of the authorities.
The Anjuman said that it was the 187th consecutive Friday that Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir was not allowed to deliver the friday sermon and offer Jummah prayers, which is extremely sad and shameful.
