Amritpal suspected to have escaped out of Punjab

New Delhi: Amritpal Singh, who continues to remain yet at large, has escaped out of Punjab, sources said today. The investigating agencies suspect that Amritpal was desperately trying to cross into Uttarakhand from where he was suspected to attempt crossing over to Nepal. The investigating agencies have also detained a woman based in Haryana’s Kurukshetra district with whom Amritpal is suspected to have stayed overnight a couple of days ago. The woman is being questioned by the officials to ascertain Amritpal’s current possible location, the sources added.

A fresh FIR has been filed against Amritpal Singh for extortion and rioting following a complaint by the ‘granthi’ of a gurdwara in Jalandhar where the pro-Khalistan preacher changed his clothes and fled on a bike to escape the police crackdown on his outfit. Police said the fugitive spent around 45 minutes at a gurdwara in Nangal Ambian village.

With the self-proclaimed social reformer, Sikh preacher and Waris Punjab De chief continuing on the run for five days now, investigators suspect that he was likely to have evaded arrest to manage the “huge funding” he received for pushing the secessionist agenda of Khalistan in Punjab even as a fresh image emerged which purportedly showed him traveling in a motorbike driven cart.
