Mantaqi Sports Awantipora win Police T-20 Tournament

J&K Police always at forefront in providing a platform to youth: DIG SKR Range Rayees Mohammad; SDPO Pampore inaugurates T20 tournament

PAMPORE: The eleven-day-long Police T-20 Knockout Tournament concluded on Wednesday at the Charligund area of Awantipora. Deputy Inspector General of Police South Kashmir Rayees Mohammad Bhat was the chief guest while SSP Awantipora Ajaz Ahmad Zargar was the guest of honour.
The T-20 tournament was organized by Awantipora police under the aegis of the Civic Action Programme, which was inaugurated by SSP Awantipora Ajaz Ahmed Zagar at Sports Stadium Charligund Awantipora. The tournament concluded with a colourful closing ceremony after the final match of the tournament.
Dy.SP DAR Awantipora, SDPO Awantipora, SHO Awantipora and other officers of the police department attended the closing ceremony.
The final match of the T-20 cricket tournament was played between United Club Gadhikhal and Mantaqi Sports Awantipora in which Mantaqi Sports Awantipora emerged as the winner of the tournament. The tournament was played on a knock-out basis. Sixteen teams from different areas of Police District Awantipora participated in the tournament.
DIG South Kashmir, Rayees Mohammad impressed on involving more and more youth towards games and sports. He said that youth from different districts of South Kashmir have proved their mettle and represented the country at the national and international levels. He mentioned Bilal Panday as an example to emulate.
He said that J&K Police has always been at the forefront in providing a platform to youth and guiding them in following their goals by organizing different events across J&K. He presented trophies to the winner team, runner-up team and media persons.
The winning and the runner-up teams were awarded trophies, and cash prizes of Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively. The Man of the Match award was given to Adil Ahmad and the Man of the Series award to Malik Jasim.
While addressing the participants, SSP Awantipora thanked the participating teams for their sportsmanship and enthusiasm during the tournament. He presented a trophy to DIG SKR Anantnag as a token of love and thanked him for gracing the closing ceremony event and for encouraging the youth towards sports activities. He said that the activities are being done for youth engagement.
“The Jammu and Kashmir Police has a role towards the society and as per that role we are involving youth in constructive engagements so that they remain away from various evils,” the SSP told Kashmir Reader, adding that under civic action programme, they organise various sports activities. He said after instructions from DIG South Kashmir they will take up various developmental initiatives in future as well.
Meanwhile, Sub Division Police Officer Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad inaugurated the T-20 Knockout Cricket Tournament at Tanchibagh Pampore area of Police district Awantipora on Saturday.
Tehsildar Pampore Zuber Ahmad Bhat, along with SHO Pampore Zahoor Ahmad, Sub Inspector Muneer Ahmad, Spectrum Advertising Agency Chairman Haji Abdul Rashid Bhat, FBC Pampore Chief organised Mir Murawat Hussain, and other dignitaries and youth of the area also present on the opening ceremony. A large gathering of people was also present who witnessed the opening ceremony and the inaugural match of the tournament.
SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad along with Tehsildar Pampore Zuber Ahmad Bhat interacting with players of both teams while inaugurating the T20 Cricket Tournament, police officials told Kashmir Reader.
