Training on ‘Analysis of Food’ commences at IUST

Awantipora: A one-week training program on ‘Analysis of Foods’ commenced at NABL-accredited Food Testing Laboratory (FTL), Department of Food Technology, Islamic University of Science and Technology. The training attended by industry representatives and researchers from different parts of the valley will run from March 6-12, 2023.

The training has been organized in the backdrop of the growing demand for safe and quality safe food products and inculcating specific food quality testing skills in professionals as are in demand in the food processing industry. Speaking on the occasion, Prof A H Moon, Dean of Research complimented the department and stressed harnessing the infrastructure and quality human resources for conducting such capacity-building programs for ensuring the employability of the youth.

Dr. Tariq Ahmad, Head Department of Food Technology highlighted the opportunities available in the Food Sciences domain and gave a brief overview of the facilities available for the Food Technology department. Dr. Darakshan Majid (Quality Manager in FTL) coordinated the program and briefed the participants about the MoFPI-sponsored Food Testing Lab, and the purpose of food testing.
