International Mother Tongue Day celebrated in Pampore

PAMPORE: International Mother Tongue Day was celebrated in the Saffron Town of Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.

On the eve of International Mother Tongue Day, the Zonal Education Officer Pampore organized a daylong function at Government Middle School Drangbal Pampore.

ZEO Pampore Abdul Rasheed, who was the chief guest, highlighted the importance of the mother tongue in improving the learning skills of a child. Teachers of various schools, staff members and students participated.

A cultural programme was presented by the students, officials told Kashmir Reader.

The theme of the programme was to highlight the importance of the mother language whatsoever it may be. It was stressed upon all to promote the mother language at any cost as it imparts our identity and makes our roots deeply embedded in the culture. The speakers said the mother tongue provides us with a rich source of understanding, feelings and self-esteem.

On the occasion, the teachers deliberated upon their thoughts and opinions regarding the preservation of the mother language. The programme was organised by zonal cultural coordinator Wani Bilal Ahmad and Kuchay Mohammad Yousuf held the dice as anchor of the programme.

ZEO Abdul Rasheed Teeli in his speech stressed upon all, especially the teachers’ community, to highlight the importance of the mother language among the masses as the voice of teachers is and always has remained effective and powerful to launch any campaign on the grass root level.

ZEO Pampore thanked all the participants and the students for their participation in providing logistic support for the programme.
