Srinagar: Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid Srinagar expressed deep regret that due to the continuous house detention of its head and Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Moulvi Mohammad Umar Farooq, Me’raj-un-Nabi (SAW) has not been observed for the last four years either at Jamia Masjid or Aali Masjid Eidgah Srinagar. In keeping with the centuries old tradition, Majlis-e-Waaz-o-Tableegh would be held at the mosques during night, led by the Mirwaiz.
The Auqaf said that in the absence of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, it is not possible for the Auqaf management to organise this important religious function. The Auqaf said its social and reformative work carried under the leadership of Mirwaiz, has also greatly suffered due to his arbitrary detention. “Despite repeated appeals to the authorities for his release, it has been a prolonged detention of more than three and a half years so far. Muslims of the valley are deeply dismayed as they are being deprived of the invaluable sermons of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir and his other religious and socio reformative guidance,” it said.
While greeting the people on the occasion of Meraj-un-Nabi (SAW), Anjuman Auqaf said that Prophet Muhammad (SAW’s) ascension to the heavens is a practical miracle of the Messenger of Allah (SAW), which is celebrated as a memorial and inspires new areas of thought till the Day of Resurrection.
The Anjuman once again urged the authorities to ensure the release of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir before the upcoming month of Shabaan so that he resumes his traditional responsibilities, like his predecessors – the Mirwaizeen-e-Kashmir.
