Highway Reopens, Closed Again

Srinagar: After opening for single way traffic at 10 a.m. this morning after nightlong closure, the Jammu-Srinagar Highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir valley with the outside world, was again closed after few hours due to shooting stones in Rambagh.
“Jammu Srinagar highway is still blocked due to continuous shooting stones at Mehar-Cafeteria (Ramban),” officials said late on evening on Tuesday.
Earlier single-way traffic was restored after clearance of the debris.
Mohita Sharma, SSP Traffic Highway, said shooting stones at Mehar halted traffic on both sides. “Will resume after clearance. Ask TCU before making travel plans,” she said.
