3 gamblers arrested in Pampore, stake money seized: Police

PAMPORE: Police on Thursday arrested three gamblers and seized stake monkey of Rs 8900 from their possession in Pampore area of south Kashmir’s police district Awantipora.
A police officer told Kashmir Reader that they arrested three gamblers and seized stake monkey from their possession. Acting on specific information about gambling activities at Tulbagh area, a police party of police station Pampore led by SHO Pampore Zahoor Ahmad raided the specific site and arrested three gamblers on the spot, he said.
The arrested gamblers have been identified as Nazir Ahmad Bohru resident of Tulbagh Pampore, Mohammad Amin Khan resident of Tulbagh Pampore and Mohammad Altaf Bohru resident of Frestabal Pampore.
The trio has been shifted to police station Pampore where they remain in custody, SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad told Kashmir Reader. He said playing cards and stake money of Rs 8900 were recovered from the gambling site. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of law at police station Pampore and further investigation has been initiated, he added.
“Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units,” police said.
