Police organise cybercrime awareness progs in Awantipora, Sopore

Pulwama: In order to make the general public aware about cybercrime and to reach out to the public, police in Awantipora organized Cyber Awareness Day cum Cyber Jagrukta programme at Takshila Institute Tral. The programme was chaired by SDPO Tral along with SHO PS Tral and Incharge PP Aripal.
The programme was attended by respectable citizens of concerned areas, teachers and students of various Institutions. The main motive behind conducting such programme was to provide awareness of cyber frauds among the general public particularly students.
Speaking on the occasion, the chairing officer advised the participants to adopt safe browsing habits to avoid suspicious websites while surfing the internet. He also appealed to the participants to not share OTPs or bank account details and passwords and to adopt precautions while conducting internet banking and online transactions. The participants were also cautioned for accepting friend requests from unknown persons or chatting with unknown persons on social media.
They were briefed about various types of cyber threats/crimes such as identity theft, credit card fraud, data stealing, cyber stalking, OTP frauds, online gaming fraud, etc.
The participants appreciated the efforts of Police for organising such awareness programme and spreading awareness about various cybercrimes among the common masses.
In Sopore, police organised Cyber Crime awareness programmes at PS Sopore, PS Tarzoo, PS Dangiwacha and PS Panzla.
