Confirm Highway Status Before Travel: Officials To Commuters

Srinagar: The Jammu-Srinagar highway, the lone surface link connecting Kashmir valley with the outside world, remained closed for nearly two hours on Monday even as authorities issued advisory for commuters for tomorrow.
“From 22-01-2023, 1700 hrs. to 23-01-2023, 1700 hrs. Jammu Srinagar NHW remained block for 47 mins due to filling of potholes at Mehar and Panthyal by CPPL. C-N Tunnel closed for 01 hour 03 mins by Tunnel authority, making the total blockage of 01 hour. 50 mins. There was slow movement on NH-44 due to breakdown of 04 HMVs between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel,” a traffic department official said here.
He said MeT department has predicted heavy rainfall, snowfall for next few days and there are chances of blockade of the highway. “People are advised not to travel on Jammu Srinagar NHW with out confirmation from TCUs.”
He said subject to fair weather and road clearance, LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar highway viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. “TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic.”
