BDC meeting held in Pampore: Shopping complex to be auctioned for block development, cricket tournament soon

PAMPORE: Block Development Officer Pampore Mohammad Ashraf Mir and BDC Chairman Mir Altaf Ahmad on Monday held a meeting with the Block Development Council members regarding finalisation of the area development plan for the year 2023-24.
In addition, an awareness camp was organised at block level SWEEP for the updation of the panchayat electoral roll 2023. All the sarpanchs of the block Pampore were present in the meeting, officials told Kashmir Reader.
The council decided to auction a shopping complex in the coming week and to start a cricket tournament for youth engagement.
“The main agenda of the meeting was auctioning of the shopping complex. It is lying useless for the past 10 years; we want to operationalise it so that income generated from it is used for the development of the block,” BDC Chairman Mir Altaf told Kashmir Reader, adding that the educated unemployed youth who have swayed towards drug abuse need to be constructively engaged.
“We have decided to make a cricket team in each panchayat which will participate in a tournament in February,” he said, adding that they will also develop a children’s park behind the block office after trees there.
He also appealed to residents for registering their names in the panchayat electoral roll by 18.

It was decided by the council that the shopping complex in Pampore will be auctioned in the next week following norms,” BDO Pampore, Mohammed Ashraf Mir said, adding, “We have also decided that this year’s PRI funds will be used on repair and renovation of panchayat houses.”
