Bandipora: Poor condition of Gund Prang link road irks residents

Hajin: The dilapidated condition of the inner link road in Bade Waith Mohalla Gund Preng in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district is giving a tough time to the locals.
According to locals, authorities and public representatives have neglected the area. “They do not care about us at all. They are absolutely careless towards the plight of the masses,” said Abdul Majid, a local.
The residents while talking to Kashmir Reader said the inner link road was established in 2010 after this mohalla came into existence. “It has never been repaired or maintained since then,” Majid said.
“We have several times so brought this matter to the concerned authorities, and public representatives to carry out the repair or maintenance works of this road but nothing has happened till date as no attention has been paid to our pleas,” he added.
Another resident, Abdul Gani, said, “We fail to understand why this inner link road has been left unattended for the last 10 years. We are not telling authorities to macadamize it but at least what they can do is fill the potholes.”
“Whenever it rains, this road gets waterlogged then we are not able to move out from our respective homes such is the condition of this inner link road as this road has turned muddyThe authorities should at least maintain it with GSB metal so that we can be able to walk by foot,” Gani said, adding, “The R&B department and public representatives are watching as mute spectators.”
The residence appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora to personally look into the matter.
Sarpanch Rather Razia told Kashmir Reader that she has kept this inner link road in her action plan for the year 2023 and the proposal has been already sent to the R&B department. “Hopefully, the estimate of this project will be approved and the work on it will be started in March-April,” she said.
Asked why this road was left unattended, Razia said there were many inner links roads that have been repaired. “We will cover this inner link road very soon,” she said.
