Custom Hiring Centre inaugurated at Konibal Pampore

‘It will help farming community and generate income for them’

PAMPORE: District Programme Manager National Rural Livelihood Mission (UMEED) Pulwama Ajaz Ahmad on Thursday inaugurated a Custom Hiring Centre (CHC) at Konibal village of Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The JKRLM Umeed Pampore handed over the Custom Hiring Center (CHC) to self-help groups of JKRLM Umeed Hud CLF Panchayat Konibal in presence of local Sarpanch Adil Mir, CHC members and other local community.
After the inaugural ceremony of CHC, District Programme Manager Ajaz Ahmad informed Kashmir Reader that Tillers, Weeders, Spray Motors, Brush Cutters and Irrigation Pump Sets are being kept in Custom Hiring Centre Konibal, which can be hired by farmers on a hiring basis.
“This Custom Hiring Centre will help the farming community of the area and generate income for them,” Ajaz said. “We have designated two Krishi Sakhi and one Pashu Sakhi to the area who will help them with the innovative idea of farming. It is also aimed at providing the machinery to the farmers at cheaper rates who cannot afford higher rates in the market.”
The manager said that for the last two years, the government is very focused on farming and how to benefit them. “We handed over a Custom Hiring Centre to CHC members. Every farmer can’t afford these machines, now they can hire them at the centre,” he said.
Adil Mir, local Sarpanch, told Kashmir Reader that all farmers of the area can take benefit from the UMEED scheme. “Farmers can take the machines like cutter, tiller, water motor, saw machine on rent for one or two days,” he said.
He thanked DC Pulwama and the Programme Manager of JKRLM for sanctioning the scheme to Panchayat Halqa Konibal.
