Police arrest drug peddler with 2.6 kg grinded cannabis in Pampore

PAMPORE: Police on Monday arrested one more drug peddler and recovered 2.6 kg of contraband substances from his possession in the Saffron Town Pampore area of police district Awantipora, officials said.
As per officials, a team from police station Pampore led by SHO Pampore Muneer Ahmad under the supervision of Sub Division Police Officer (SDPO) Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad arrested one drug peddler during the naka duty on the old Srinagar-Jammu highway near Noorani Colony area of Saffron Town.
In continuation to the drive against drugs launched by Pampore police, arrested one more drug peddler during the routine naka duty established near Noorani Colony Pampore. The arrested drug peddler was identified as Bilal Khan @ Pasha son of Abdul Khaliq Khan, resident of Douninad Pampore at present Frestabal Pampore.
During the search, two kilogram and 600 grams of contraband substances, grinded cannabis was recovered from the possession of the arrested drug peddler. The arrested drug peddler has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody, SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad told Kashmir Reader.
He urged the community members of Police Sub Division Pampore to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in the Pampore and Khrew areas. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, he added.
“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” he said, adding that a case FIR bearing number 04/2023 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police station Pampore.
