SKUAST-K student to work on Nano-Phosphorous management at Connecticut, USA

Srinagar: Tanzeel Bashir,PhD student of the Division of Plant BiotechnologySKUAST-Kashmir has been selected for the position of Season Research Assistant in the Department of Analytical Chemistry at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station in New Haven, Connecticut, USA,and shall work on Phosphorous management in plant-soil systems using Nano-scale and conventional phosphorous fertilizers.
This position will provide excellent opportunity to gain professional experience helpful for her PhD research and learn new skills in the broad areas of nutrient management, nanotechnology implications and applications in agriculture and environment, and plant science.
The student is currently pursuing Ph.D. Biotechnology on Biochemical and Metagenomic studies for Organic Saffron Production under the mentorship of Dr. Amjad M. Husaini, Associate Professor, Division of Plant Biotechnology in Genome Engineering and Sustainable BiotechnologyLab, SKUAST-K.
The selection of candidate was done through an online interview held by Dr. Jason C. White, Director CAES. Her tenure will lastfor about 6 months at CAES, New Haven, USA.Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K, complimented the student, her mentor and Prof. M Ashraf Bhat, Head of the Division for this collaborative initiative that is expected to improve the international outlook of the university students and help them to benefit from global learning and innovation ecosystems.
