GDC Pampore organise Anti- Polythene drive, distributes carry bags at Pampore

PAMPORE: Government Degree College Pampore organised an Anti-Polythene drive in Saffron Town Pampore, distributing carry bags among the locals on Monday.
In connection with ‘My Town, My Pride’ under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the college NSS Unit conducted an ‘Anti-Polythene drive’ in the local market of the Saffron Town Pampore.
The Drive was conducted under the able patronage of Principal Prof. Dr. Huda Galzai, officials told Kashmir Reader.
The drive commenced from the college campus to the local market Tanchibagh, Drangbal, Namblabal and Khrew Chowk. The college NSS volunteers and faculty members made the shopkeepers and padrestrains aware about the ill effects of using non-biodegradable and non-reusable polythene.
The College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Huda Galzai talked to many pedestrians, shoppers and dissuaded them from using polythene bags.
Pedestrians using polythene bags were given recyclable bags and many polythene bags were seized in the said drive.
The rally passed through the markets of the Saffron Town Pampore, raising awareness about the hazards of using polythene bags. It was emphasized that the shift in mindset is needed to adopt polythene free life.
The objective of the drive was to impress upon the local populace of pampore the growing menace of polythene. In this regard, GDC Pampore is already a polythene-free campus and endeavours are being made from time to time to make adjacent areas polythene free, GDC Pampore Dr Huda Galzai told Kashmir Reader.
A total of 22 NSS Volunteers along with many faculty members participated in the said drive.
The drive was coordinated by Prof. Alam Ara Shah, NSS Programme Officer and the whole team of NSS.
