District level NCORD Committee meeting held at Pulwama

PULWAMA: The District Level Committee meeting under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) was today held here to discuss various measures to curb the drug abuse and narcotic trade in the District.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Tral, S.A Raina
During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held on various issues related to incidence of drug addiction, age group of addicts, areas of concern, hot spots of drug use and cultivation of illicit poppy, cannabis in the district. The meeting also discussed the action taken on directions issued in previous meeting of NCORD.
The ADC sought details from the concerned departments about the measures taken to control the drug menace and cultivation of illicit poppy, cannabis in the district.
He urged for monitoring of illicit cultivation of poppy, cannabis crops to the extent that no cultivation of the same shall be allowed in the district.
While reviewing the awareness campaigns, the ADC directed the concerned departments to start massive awareness camps in schools, colleges and other public places involving PRIs, students and locals.
The Education Department was asked for promoting antidrug abuse awareness in all education institutions and its ill effects on society.
The Police Department was asked to keep strict vigil against drug proliferation, consumption and intensifying awareness against such addictive substances involving concerned stake holders from civil administration.
The meeting was attended by DSP HQ, Chief Education Officer, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Assistant Drug Controller, District Social Welfare Officer, Tehsildar Pulwama other concerned officials.
