BUDGAM: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Budgam, SKUAST-Kashmir under Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA)-CTR 2022 today organized a training programme to sensitize the farmers regarding conservation and reuse of water.
The programme was attended by more than 75 farmers.
Senior Scientist and Head KVK Budgam, Dr. Bilal Ahmad Lone while elaborating on the campaign stressed to promote water use efficiency for irrigation (Per Drop More Crop) and better choice of crops for water conservation.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shazia Ramzan (Soil Scientist, KVK Budgam) underlined the issue of water scarcity for agriculture in view of climate change. She also gave emphasis on different techniques of water harvesting, importance of organic farming and scientific methods of composting and vermin-composting.
She stated about Jal Shakti Abhiyan as a revolutionary mission that cannot be achieved without sincere efforts particularly avoiding indiscriminate use of water.
Interacting with farmers on the occasion, Iram Farooq (Programme Assistant-Fisheries) spoke about the water reuse in aquaculture and about judicious use of water to reduce the pressure on one of the important natural resources.
