Department of Zoology GDC Doda carries forward TB awareness programme

Doda: Department of Zoology Govt.Degree College Doda, under the headship of Principal Investigator of project entitled “Study, Knowledge , Survey and Awareness on Tb in Chenab Region of J&K” Dr.Ajaz Ahmed Wani, and in presence of Co-PI, Mr. Imteyaz Ahmed from Dept. of Zoology GDC Doda; organised an extension lecture on Tuberculosis at Govt.Higher Higher Secondary School Malothi Doda on Saturday.
The extension lecture cum workshop was based on awareness regarding Tuberculosis (TB). This awareness is a part of aforesaid research project sponsored by Science Technology and Innovation Council, Department of Science and Technology, Govt.of Jammu and Kashmir, with the aim to eliminate the TB from Chenab Region of J&K. The Prime Minister of India has set the target of 2025 for Tb elimination from India and this is an effort in that direction.
The workshop was of interactive type where students also spoke on TB. This was followed by detailed lecture on the significance and need of awareness regarding Tb by Mr. Imteyaz Ahmed, Co-Principal investigator of this research project. Dr Wani also spoke at length regarding this disease and Nikshay Poshan yojna started by Govt.of India for the Tuberculosis patients. He advised the students to report such cases of TB to the district Tuberculosis control room for the proper treatment .He also advised students to work hard and fulfill the expectation of parents and to remain away from drugs and other social evils.
The appreciation certificates were presented to the winning participants. An appreciation certificate was also given to the Head of the Institution for exceptional support and management. Principal of School Mr Svit Sharma in his address appreciated the efforts of Zoology dept.GDC DOda for this Initiative The programme culminated by vote of thanks by Shahid Latief Lecturer Chemistry Higher Secondary school Malothi Doda.The other faculty members present on the occasion were Muzaffer Hussain ,Onkar Singh and others along with large gathering of students. Naseem Ahmed, Senior lecturer Urdu coordinated the whole program.
