Saffron Day Observed at Research Station Dusoo Pampore

PAMPORE: Saffron Day was celebrated at Advance Research Station Dusoo Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday to promote Kashmiri Saffron.
Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K Nazir Ahmad Ganaie was the Chief guest on occasion.
The Saffron day was organized by Advanced Research Station for Saffron and Seed Spice, SKUAST-K Dusoo Pampore.
Director Research SKUAST-K Dr Sarfraz Ahmad and Directorate of Extension SKUAST-K Pro Dil Mohammad Maqdoomi, Director Planing SKUAST-K Pro Haroon Naik were the guest of honours in the function, officials told Kashmir Reader.
Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K Nazir Ahmad Ganaie also held a meeting with SKUAST-K officials and Saffron Growers.
The meeting was attended by Dr Sarfraz Ahmad, Pro Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi,
Director Planning Pro Haroon Naik, Research Station head Dr Bashir Ahmad Allie and other officials of the department, Saffron Growers Association President Abdul Majeed Wani, Kissan Advisory Board member Irshad Ahmad Dar, a number of farmers.
Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-K visits saffron farm in Pampore, briefs farmers on new techniques of saffron farming, inter cropping of kala zeera.
Vice-Chancellor SKAUST-K, Nazir Ahmad Ganai said today visited Saffron farm in Pampore and briefed farmers about new techniques to experience better crop so that they could fetch good money.
The vice- Chancellor told Kashmir Reader that they have used the techniques of high density in the farm and it has shown good results.
” We would select some farmers and help them adopt the technique so that they could fetch good returns from the crop,” he said.
He further said that they would also adopt inter cropping which would increase the prospectus of farmers and help them in increasing their income manifold.
The vice- chancellor also awarded the people present on the occasion.
