Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha felicitated Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan with the “Lifetime Achievement Award” for his contribution in the field of Art & Culture in Kashmir.
On the occasion of International Artists Day, Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor ManojSinha on Tuesday inaugurated the three-week long Jashn e Kashmir Cultural Festival in Srinagar.
The event was organized by Shah Qalandar Folk Theater in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, office of the Divisional commissioner (Kashmir) and All J&K Folk Artists Association. The series of this is cultural program will continue in different cities and towns of Kashmir for three to four weeks.
On this occasion, Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan, a well-known actor, director and cultural activist of the Kashmir Valley, was honored with the “Lifetime Achievement Award”. Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan, while speaking expressed his gratitude toLt. Governor ManojSinhaJi.
It should be remembered that Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad’s role in giving new life to the Art & Culture Kashmir is definitely unforgettable. During the turmoil of the last three decades, the theater of Kashmir, which was once flourishing, was lost in obscurity, but Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan was instrumental in giving new life to this important genre of art and attracting new talent. The role played is admirable in every aspect. Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan belongs to the world of television apart from the stage. His affiliation is not only with Kashmiri television but also with national television. Mushtaaque Ali Ahmed Khan is active as a cultural activist besides being an actor and director of theatre. He has organized four successful editions of Kashmir Film Festival in Kashmir Valley and is preparing for the 5th edition of KWFF.
Waqaf Board Chairperson Dr. DarakhshanAndarbi, Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture&Languages Bharat Singh, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir PK Pole, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Mohammad AijazAsad, other senior officers and many other dignitaries were also present on this occasion.
