53 caught in Pampore since 2021: SDPO Pampore

PAMPORE: Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday arrested two more drug peddlers and recovered 5.5 Killograms of grinded cannabis in Saffron town Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
They have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
A police officer told Kashmir Reader that on specific information, the police party of Police Station Pampore led by SHO Pampore Adil Ashraf under the Supervision of Sub Division Police Officer Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad, placed a special naka at Tulbagh Pampore Crossing and arrested two drug peddlers.
The duo arrested drug peddlers who were moving in suspicious circumstances and during search 5.5 Killograms of grinded Cannabis was recovered from their possession.
The duo have been identified as Amir Hamid Lone @ Sheezan son of Abdul Hamid Lone, resident of Lalwani Mohalla Pampore and Imran Baktoo son of Mohammad Ibrahim Baktoo, resident of Noorani Colony Pampore.
The arrested drug peddlers shifted to the police station where they remain in custody.
SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that 53 drug peddlers /addicts have been arrested since 2021 from Saffron Town Pampore and registered 27 cases against these drug peddlers at police station Pampore.
He told that many of them, hardcore, were booked under Public Safety Act (PSA).
He said that in the year 2021, police Pampore had arrested 23 drug peddlers and registered 12 cases against the drug peddlers in police station Pampore. 23 drug peddlers arrested this year and registered 12 cases and booked six drug peddlers unde Public Safety Act (PSA).
” We are moving towards making Pampore drug free,” he said, adding that locals are appealed to inform police in case they found any one involved in the menace.
A Case First Information Report bearing registration number 124/2022 under relevant sections of NDPS registered at Police Station Pampore and further investigation going on.
Earlier, Police Pampore has arrested four drug peddlers along with poppy straw during naka checking in Saffron Town Pampore on Saturday.
