IUST welcomes Freshers: Organizes one-day orientation program for batch 2022

Awantipora: Welcoming the new batch of students, Directorate of internal quality assurance (DIQA), Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) on 13th October hosted a one–day orientation program for the batch 2022, to get the students acquainted with basic university infrastructure, rules, regulations and all the facilities that are available within the campus. Prof. Fozia Qazi, Director DIQA, kick-started the orientation programme by welcoming the students and, speaking about the achievements of the University despite being a young institution. Speaking to the students, Prof.Qazi advised them to focus on gaining knowledge but at the same time encouraged them to have a curious mind.
Taking the programme forward, Prof. Manzoor Malik, Dean Academic Affairs IUST said that students are the most important aspect of any educational institute and it’s the duty of our institute to make journey in the campus should be comfortable without any hassles.
Speaking about the need to improve skills and productivity, Prof. Lily Want Dean Outreach, IUST spoke to students about various facilities and state of the art labs available in the campus.
The event saw the presence of a number of University officials, faculty members and staff who welcomed the new batch of students and oriented them on a number of aspects. Prof. Mohamad Amin I/C controller Examination, IUST praised composite culture of the university and highlighted the role of university as a place for higher learning, where leaders and great personalities of tomorrow are shaped. Prof. Afroz Bisati I/C Librarian, IUST introduced students to university’s Rumi Library and discussed its setup.
After that, Dean of Students Dr. Anisa Jan, spoke a few words about the role of her office and how her office will always be at the disposal of students to address their grievances. Giving the students a technical orientation, Mr.Aijaz Ahmad Assistant Programmer Department of IT&SS talked about the creation and use of student IDs to avail various benefits at university.
The session also included orientation lectures by Dr. Andaleeb Said, Assistant Professor Mantaqi Centre for science and society, IUST on the substance abuse and awareness.
Lecture on maintaining discipline, law and order in university by Dr. Sheikh Jameil, Sr.Proctor IUST. And lecture on awareness and zero tolerance policy of university on women’s harassment by Dr. Irfani Rahim, member Internal Complaints Committee, IUST. Followed by orientation regarding sports infrastructure and facilities available in the university by Dr. Hilal Rather Assistant Director Physical Education and Sports, IUST.
The event concluded by Vote of thanks given by Nayeem Peerzada, Junior Assistant DIQA who thanked all dignitaries and students for the successful orientation and wished students all the best for their future endeavours.
