SRINAGAR: Islamia College of Science and Commerce (ICSC) in a nail-biting finish beat University XI by a narrow margin of 10 runs to make it into the finals of Inter College cricket championship.
In an evenly held contest, ICSC team won the toss and choose to bat first. Openers Ghazi Mushtaq and Captain Mohammed Hurrair laid sound foundation of 36 runs playing strokes all around wicket. Ghazi top scored with 43 and Hurrair contributing 26. Middle order continued the good work with Quanain chipping in with 20 and Zameer 15.Team gave the target of 139 to opponents in stipulated 20 overs.
ICSC bowlers kept the things quiet by some good swing bowling removing in-form Asim Bashir cheaply. Kamran was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 19 . Quanian took 2 wickets. Kamran was adjudged Man of the match.
Principal, Dr. Shiekh Ajaz Bashir appreciated the team and wished them well for the Finals scheduled next week.
The championship is organized by Physical Education Department of Kashmir University.
