Police arrested 4 drug peddlers in Pampore, contraband recovered

PAMPORE: Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested four drug peddlers along with poppy straw during naka checking in Saffron Town Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, Police said on Saturday.
Police party from police station Pampore led by SHO Adil Ashraf under the Supervision of Sub Division Pampore Officer Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad laid a naka near Tanchibagh Befina road in Pampore after receiving a specific information about illegal activities of these peddlers and signalled to stop a Maruti Car bearing registration number JK01E -5230.
During the checking of said vehicle, One Nylon bag found on back side of the vehicle with poppy straw-like substance weighing about 6.5kgs, police officer told Kashmir Reader.
Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, In a act of alertness and prompt action, a strict action has been taken by dedicated police team of police station Pampore area of police district Awantipora have arrested four drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession during naka checking at Pampore.
He told that this year, police Pampore had arrested 23 drug peddlers and registered 12 cases against the drug peddlers in police station Pampore. Six drug peddlers booked unde Public Safety Act (PSA), SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad told Kashmir Reader.
The arrested drug peddlers boarded in Maruti Car identified as Muneer Rasool Bhat @ Gopa son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat, resident of Namblabal Pampore, Adil Ali son of Ali Mohammad Dar, resident of Samboora Pampore , Javaid Ahmad Dar @ Trecha son of Mohammad Akram Dar, resident of Meej Pampore and Naseer Ahmad Shah son of Bashir Ahmad Shah, resident of Chandhara Pampore.
All the four drug peddlers were arrested and shifted to a police station where they remain in custody. Vehicles using in the peddling have been seized by police.
He again requested the general public to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood.
The residents of Saffron Town hails the efforts of Pampore Police especially SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad and SHO Adil Ashraf for their action against drug peddlers in the Saffron Town.
A case FIR number 123/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pampore against the drug peddlers and further investigation going on.
