Police arrests 7 for illegal excavation, transportation of minerals at Pampore, Khrew

PAMPORE: Jammu and Kashmir Police registered two FIRs in Police Sub Division Pampore against the illegal mining excavation and transportation of minerals and seized seven vehicles and arrested seven drivers in Pampore and Khrew areas of Police Division Awantipora, police officials said.
The drive against illegal mining extraction and transportation of minerls in the Pampore and Khrew areas continued.
Police launched a crackdown against illegal mining at various locations of the Police Sub Division Pampore.
During the drive five Tipper and two Dumper vehicles were seized and arrested seven drivers involved in transportation of illegally extracted minerals from various areas of Pampore and Khrew jurisdictions, SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad told Kashmir Reader.
A case FIR number 120/2022 stands registered against four tippers for illegal sand mining. Another FIR number 59/2022 have been registered at police station Khrew against three dumper vehicles for carring mineral illegally.
Total five FIRs so far in this week against illegal mining under relevant sections of law at Police Station Pampore and Police Station Khrew, he said.
SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad again requests the people not to indulge in illegal mining activities as it is the violation of government rules.
People found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local Police units.
