Srinagar: Division of Vegetable Science, Faculty of Horticulture, SKUAST-Kashmir organizedAll India Co-ordinated Research Project on Vegetable Crops (AICRP-VC) day for the farmers and the students to showcase the technologies developed under AICRP (Vegetable crops) project for the benefit of farming community and students. More than fifty farmers and students participated in the programme. Dr Baseerat Afroza, Professor and Head proposed a formal welcome address. She highlighted the importance of sustainable vegetable production under changing climatic scenario.
Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Kashmir, Prof Nazir Ahmed Ganie, who was the chief guest of the event, stressed upon the importance of vegetable crops for nutritional security, health and income generation. He emphasized on the use of modern scientific technologies for improving the productivity and value addition in vegetable crops. Prof Sarfaraz Ahmed Wani, who was the guest of honour at the occasion emphasized on vegetable production as an enterprise for coming generations.
Dr Ajaz Ahmed Malik, PI of the project, briefed the audience about the achievements and the importance of the project. Winter Vegetable kit was also distributed among the farmers by Vice Chancellor
