Jammu Kashmir Contractors Coordination Committee threatens strike over pending paymensts

Srinagar: The Jammu Kashmir Contractors Coordination Committee on Wednesday threatened to boycott works across Jammu and Kashmir if their pending payments are not released at the earliest.
The statement issued here by the Chairman of the committee Ghuam Jeelani Purza along said that there bills pending with the authorities and they are unmoved over clearing them so that financial position of the contractors would improve.
The statement added that this has resulted in slow progress of works and if the situation continues all works will; be stalled .
The committee impressed upon the authorities to immediately release the payments as they have made assures from time to time regarding this.
Earlier also the committee had threatened to go on strike over various issues, but after meeting the Chief Secretary Aurn Kumar Mehta the strike was deferred.
