Two SKUAST-K students awarded prestigious fellowship in Italy another gets Postdoctoral fellowship in USA

Srinagar: Two SKUAST-K students from Division of Plant Biotechnology have been selected for prestigious Erasmus+ Fellowship at University of Padova, Italy. The programme is a joint student and staff mobility interface between SKUAST-Kashmir and University of Padova, Italy under Erasmus+ programme. Under the fellowship, the students namely Ms. Ammarah Hami and Madhiya Manzoor will spend six months at University of Padova, Italy and undergo advanced training in the area of plant proteomics/metabolomics.
Dr. SajadMajeedZargar, Assistant Prof. at Division of Plant Biotechnology is the Coordinator of the Erasmus+programme under which faculty and student shall attend the University of Padova, Italy for advanced capacity building in the areas of proteomics/metabolomics. The selection of two candidates was done by a joint selection committee from institutes of both India and Italy; headed by Prof. M N Khan, Director Education and Prof. M. Ashraf Bhat, Head, Division of Plant Biotechnology, SKUAST-Kashmir.Earlier, this month Dr.ReetikaMahajan, who was working as postdoctoral fellow (DST-WoS) in Proteomics Lab, Division of Plant Biotechnology, SKUAST-Kashmir under mentorship of Dr. Sajad Majeed Zargar, Assistant Professor has been selected as a postdoctoral fellow at University of Toledo, USA. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, congratulated the students as well their mentor Dr. Sajad M. Zargar for this feat and hoped that these students will act as ambassador of this university and help improve our international outlook.
On this occasion Honb’le Vice Chancellor has appreciated the energetic efforts of Dr. Sajad M. Zargar and Prof. M Ashraf Bhat in mentoring the students and research scholars towards greater research pursuits in leading International Institutions that shall pave a way forward for the University to improve its global presence.
