Farmer Scientist interface on Lumpy Skin Disease and other animal related diseases

SRINAGAR: One day interface meet between Scientists of SKUAST-K and farmers of the valley was organized by Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K on 12th September, 2022.
The Programme was participated by Scientists of the Directorate of Extension and about 50 farmers from length and breadth of the valley. Director Extension Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi chaired the event.
At the outset of the event Prof Purshotam Singh formally welcomed the farmers and elaborated the attendees about the importance of the event. Farmers interacted with the scientists and raised various issues /problems farmers come across in agriculture and allied sectors. Director Extension, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, who himself happens to be renowned Veterinary Scientist delivered a PowerPoint presentation and deliberated on way and means to combat and manage Lumpy Skin disease, an important issue the UT as well as country is facing.
In this important talk Prof. Makhdoomi elaborated the symptomology of the viral diseases and stressed that recommended management strategies like quarantine infected animals, sanitation of animals and animal shed, vaccination of uninfected animals and other treatment measures as recommended by SKUAST Kashmir should be religiously followed to curtail the spread of infection.
Later on an interactive session was held in which various questions, myths, apprehensions and concerns raised by the attending farmers were addressed very humbly by the worthy Director Extension to the best satisfactionof the farmers. Finally the event was concluded with formal vote of thanks.
