BANDIPORA: As part of outreach and awareness activities under ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’, Department of Health Bandipora today conducted daylong seminars, awareness rallies in different health institutions, schools and AWCs of Bandipora district.
The programmes were conducted on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr.Owais Ahmad and were supervised by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Bandipora, Dr B.A Khan and Block Medical Officer (BMO) Bandipora, Dr Masarat Iqbal Wani.
During the day, Health teams visited schools and AWCs to provide awareness regarding drug abuse and its ill effects besides treatment to eradicate this evil.
Speaking on the occasion, BMO said that various departments working in the field of drug counseling, care and management need to put joint collaborative efforts where all the partners could join hands together to weed out the social evil of drugs.
She said that we need to stop the supply of drugs and provide proper treatment to drug-addicts and help them to get rid of this addiction.
Dr.Masrat said awareness can play a major role to remove this social evil. She said under the drug de-addiction drive, the health department will create more awareness about its ill-effects in rural areas.
In its outreach, the awareness was launched in the tribal areas of Vevan Chandachi, Athwatoo and its adjoining areas where students, locals, and young people participated in the event.
During the seminars hundreds of people pledged to say ‘No to Drugs’.
