IUST conducted a workshop on advanced research in collaboration with UGC

Awantipora: As a part of the awareness program, Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora Kashmir along with UGC-DAE CSR (Indore) and School of Physics, SMVDU Katra, Jammu organized an awareness meeting on the utilization of advanced research facilities at different centers of UGC-DAE CSR and some large-scale facilities of DAE.
The workshop addressed the concept of the “Collaborative Research Scheme” via an interactive mode. It was patronized by Prof. Amlan J Pal, Director UGC-DAE CSR, and coordinated by Dr. Vasant Sathe, Center director UGC-DAE CSR. Local hosts included Dr. Farooq Hussain Bhat, Department of Physics, IUST Awantipora, and Dr. Ram Prakash, School of Physics, SMVDU Katra, Jammu. The participants included researchers from northern Indian universities, affiliated colleges, and other institutes working in the fields of physical, chemical, biological, and engineering sciences.
During the inaugural session, Dr. Vasant Sathe while welcoming the participants mentioned the significance of the workshop. Dean Academic Affairs, IUST, Prof. Manzoor Ahmad Malik highlighted the significance of the meeting in the context of capacity building through open access to experimental infrastructure and techniques. He further stressed the exclusive participation of students and research scholars of the university in such programs.
Dr. Farooq Hussain Bhat mentioned the importance of carrying out research at IUC with state-of-the-art research equipment available under one roof. Dr. Niyaz Ahmad I/C Head Department of Physics, IUST introduced the Department and the various programs run by the Department. The speakers from various centers of UGC-DAE CSR (Indore, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Kalpakkam) informed us about the facilities available at these centers and discussed the research work carried out using the available facilities. The program concluded with an interactive session on the Collaborative Research Scheme at various centers of UGC-DAE CSR followed by a vote of thanks by Dr. Vasant Sathe.
