PSPS Govt PG College for Women holds one day activity to mark national nutrition week 2022

JAMMU: PG department of Food Science and Technology, Padma Shri Padma Sachdev, Government PG College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, in collaboration with IQAC organized a one-day activity to mark National Nutrition Week, 2022 today, in the Smart Class Room, Mahatma Gandhi Block.
The event was honored by the gracious presence of the College Principal, Minu Mahajan, Dr. Suresh Bhat (Coordinator, IQAC) and the staff members of the college.
The chairperson of the event was Dr. Suresh Bhat. Dr. Anuradha Gandotra (HOD, Food Science and Technology) welcomed all dignitaries, participants and introduced the theme of the event “Role of Food Science in Balanced Nutrition”. Worthy Principal madam applauded the efforts of the department and students for organizing such an informative session relevant for all.
The most striking feature of the event was to acknowledge the importance of Food Science in ensuring balanced nutrition. Session proved to be informative enough with respect to the inclusion of health friendly ingredients in our daily diets leading to a healthy life. The audience was also made well aware about the various food processing techniques, development of value-added foods and remedial measures regarding post harvest losses for economic uplift.
Around seventy five (75) students from UG and PG-Food Science department apart from teachers participated with great fervor and gaiety paving the way for a grand success of the event. Ten (10) students from UG and PG of the Food Science department exhibited scintillating performance in the seminar.
All the participants were bestowed with a token of appreciation by the worthy Principal madam. PG student Jaskiran Kaur anchored the event. The organizing committee consisted of Dr. Shalini Sharma, Dr. Monika Hans, Dr. Jasmeet Kour and Dr. Harleen Kour. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Shalini Sharma.
