Skill Development Training For Rural Youth programme concludes at SKUAST

Srinagar: Ten different Training Programmes on Skill Development for Rural Youth (STRY) were concluded Wednesday. A joint valedictory of all the STRY Programmes was celebrated today on 31st August,2022 at NundReshiAuditorium, SKUAST-K. The trainings were organized by KVK Kulgam, Ganderbal, Gurez, Budgam, Srinagar, Shopian and DrylandAgriculture Research Station (DARS), Rangreth in collaboration with Directorate of Extension under sponsorship with MANAGE, Hyderabad.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nazir A. Ganie was Chief Guest of the valedictory function and Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director Extension was Guest of Honor. The programme was also attended by Director Education, Prof. M.N. Khan, Director Planning & Monitoring, Prof. HaroonNaik, Scientists of Directorate of Extenion and Ms. Zytoona Begum Surpanch District Ganderbal,all Heads of KVKs of Kashmir Division, all scientists of Directorate of Extension.In all the 10 training programme, 280 rural youth (25 each training) were given hands on training, laboratory and field visits. Ganie apprised that all trainings were of utmost importance and are need and demand driven for boosting the moral of youth and getting training for generating the income and livelihood for unemployed rural youth. He also emphasized on different schemes and policies offering subsidies given to farmers and advised trainees to take advantage of the schemes and stressed on forming the Framers Produce Organizations (FPOs).Director Extension, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi in his address deliberated extensively on the importance of all the ten programmes. He advised the trainees to empower themselves through specific skills and join self-help groups to serve the society at large and to earn the living in a dignified manner.
Certificates were also distributed among the participants of the training programme. The valedictory session was concluded with a vote of thanks.
