DHSJ hosts Sensitization workshop on Monkeypox, Save Life Jammu Initiative

JAMMU: Directorate of Health Services Jammu (DHSJ) today conducted a One Day Sensitization workshop on Monkeypox and the Save Life Jammu initiative here at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar.
The workshop was conducted to sensitize the doctors, paramedics and Health Administrators about the latest guidelines on preparedness and management of Monkeypox. A detailed powerpoint presentation on Epidemiology and overview of Monkeypox, Clinical features and management as well as sample collection and transportation was done by various speakers.
It was informed in the workshop that 41358 cases of Monkeypox are confirmed in the world. In India only 10 cases, 5 each in Kerala and Delhi have been confirmed. The District Surveillance Units were advised to stay vigilant and in the mode of preparedness to manage the Monkeypox cases, if any.
The Save Life Initiatives is a new concept of Directorate of Health Services Jammu, where in the Emergency Room of District Hospital, Community Health Centers and few Primary Health Centers are strengthen and equipped to manage all types of Medical emergencies like road traffic accidents, snake bite cases, cardiac emergencies, poisoning cases etc.
This initiative was started in the month of February 2022 and till date 5000 emergency cases were managed and around 242 thrombolytic procedures have been done in these emergency rooms. These emergencies were handled in the remote area of Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban and Kathua.
The Workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Director General and Director Health Services Jammu.
In his inaugural address, the Director Health Services complimented the doctors, paramedic and supporting staff for their dedication and commitment in providing quality health care services to the masses. He emphasized to continue to serve with dedication. He advised the District officers to organize awareness campaigns regarding emerging new diseases of Public health concerns.
The workshop was attended by Dy. Director Dentistry Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Assistant Director Schemes Dr. Sanjay Turki, Medical Superintendent Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar Dr. Narinder Bhutyal, Epidemiologist Dr. Harjeet Rai, Consultant Pediatrician Dr. Mahesh, Consultant Physician Dr. Rakesh Verma, Microbiologist Dr. Monika Sharma, State Data Manager IDSP, Shalini Soodan, District Health Officers, Physicians, Pediatricians, Skin Specialist, Lab. Technicians from all districts of Jammu Division.
