SKUAST-Kashmir bags best team IIPA annual debate cup- 2022

Srinagar: A debate competition held by the University of Kashmir, Srinagar under the Indian Institute of Public Administration was held recently at University of Kashmir on the theme , “Keyboard learning is not an alternative to formal education”.Besides dignitaries of IIPA, the event was attended by Prof. Nilofar Khan Vice-Chancellor of the University.
Sixty students from the various Universities in Kashmir participated in the debate. Students debated on the pros and cons of online education and various points were raised on whether online education can replace the conventional mode of classroom teaching. The winning students were felicitated with cash prize and certificates of merit. Five prizes were conferred in total- three winning prizes and two consolation prizesand the IIPA cup-2022 for the best team. Students mentored by the Department of Students Welfare of SKUAST K namely SairahJabeenlaharwal(B.sc. Hort. II year) and NumairaShabir (B.Sc. Hort. I year) of the faculty of Horticulture won second and third place respectively.
While lauding the efforts of the Department of StudentsWelfare Shalimar, the Vice- Chancellor of the varsity Prof Nazir AhmadGanai congratulated the students for their extra ordinary talent which they displayed in this Debate Competition. He also added that the University over the past years has made tremendous growth in terms of not just churning out job seekers but industry leaders and the next generation of professionals who are excelling in all walks of life
He said that the students from SKUAST-K have made their mark on various events conducted at national and regional level deliberations, debates and elocution programs. He also congratulated Prof M. A. A. Siddique, Dean Students Welfare and DrSeemiLohani Students Welfare officer of the University for mentoring the students of the University for the development of their soft skills which makes them acceptable in today’s world market.
