NIT Srinagar organizes Tiranga rally, essay competition under Har Ghar Tiranga campaign

Srinagar: Under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and in a run-up to the nation’s 75th Independence Day, the Department of Physical Education, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Saturday organized ‘Tiranga Rally’ which was participated by hundreds of faculty members and students.
The rally was flagged off by Director NIT Srinagar, Prof (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal, in presence of Registrar Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari, Dean R&C Prof. MF Wani along with all Deans, HoD’s, and faculty members.
The rally covered a distance around the campus. More than 1000 participants, including teachers and non-teaching staff and students of NIT Srinagar, took part in the rally.
On the occasion, Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Sehgal said the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign of the Government of India to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence.
“We should continue to participate in such campaigns in the next coming years,” he said. The director said that the NIT administration has already distributed the national flags to students, and faculty members as part of Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
Prof. Sehgal said the rally has undoubtedly strengthened the spirit of patriotism and nationalism among the students. He said the idea behind the initiative is to invoke a feeling of patriotism among students and to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag.
On the occasion, Registrar NIT Srinagar, Prof. Bukhari said the rally was organized to promote the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and to raise awareness regarding the struggle of national heroes and freedom fighters of India.
He said NIT is organizing multifarious activities to amplify the awareness of Har Ghar Tiranga campaign under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Besides that, an awareness campaign was conducted in campus to make Har Ghar Tiranga program a grand success.
Dean Research & Consultancy, Prof. (Dr.) M.F Wani, Dean Academic Affairs Najeeb-ud-din, Dean Alumni and International Affairs Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Shafi Mir, Dean Planning & Development Prof. B. A. Mir, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Abdul Liman and Dean Faculty Welfare Prof. Shamim Ahmad Lone also spoke about on the occasion.
Dr. Srinibash Mishra said apart from Tiranga rally, the Department of Physical Education, also conducted an essay writing competition to mark the 75 years of Independence under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
“The overall theme of the competition was “India in 2050 A.D” and how students contribute to make it happen,” he said.
Prof (Dr.) Sehgal along with Prof Bukhari were the chief guests for the event. Students actively participated in the competition and made it successful.
Har Ghar Tiranga is a campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it on India’s independence.
Later, the participating students were felicitated by Director NIT Srinagar, Prof (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal, in presence of Registrar Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari, for taking part in Tiranga rally and essay competition.
