SRINAGAR: A prize distribution ceremony of Vice Chancellor’s Sports Festival-2022 was held at FoA Wadura campus on Thursday.
The event was organised by Department of Students Welfare, SKUAST-K to felicitate the winners of various competitions which took place from 30th May to 9th June this year during Vice Chancellor’s sports festival, where different games like cricket, football, volleyball, badminton, kabbadi, kho kho, carrom, chess, short and long run, table tennis and traditional local games of Kashmir valley were played.
Dean Students Welfare SKUAST-K, Prof. M.A.A. Siddique who was guest of honour of the occasion congratulated participants and the organizers for organizing such events and emphasized the role of such events in promoting sportsmanship and at the same time provides a platform to young students to showcase their talent.
He also expressed his happiness and contentment over the healthy participation of young and energetic students in various sports activities of the Faculty and advised them for their whole hearted participations in future inter/intra sports activities.
Vice Chairperson, J&K Khadi & Village Industries Board, Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat who was the chief guest on the occasion expressed her gratitude on being part of the prize distribution ceremony of sports festival and called upon students to develop a more efficient sports culture.
She presented mementos to the winners, volunteers and organisers of the sports festival. She also visited the exhibition stalls of faculty depicting various technologies & innovations of agriculture at the campus.
Welcoming the guests and participants on the occasion, Dean Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Rehaina highlighted the importance of sports in the overall development of students while addressing the gathering in the prize distribution ceremony and lauded the support of Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai and Prof.M. A. A. Siddique for their valuable guidance and support for conducting the event.
Earlier, the final foot ball match of VC’s sports festival was played between Team M.Sc and Team B.Sc. Final year, Team M.Sc defeated Team B.Sc. Final year 3-2.
The event ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Ajaz Qureshi Students Welfare Officer.
