Police launches drive against non wearing helmets, issues fines on defaulters

PAMPORE: Jammu and Kashmir Police has launched a checking drive against the two-wheelers driving without helmets and documents at Saffron Town Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.
The police team of police station Pampore led by SHO Pampore Adil Ashraf has launched a drive special against two-wheelers for non-use of helmets on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway near Drangbal and challaned scores of two-wheelers on the spot.
The drive was launched in the direction of SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad.
During the drive, a number of two-wheeler riders were court-challaned on the spot for not wearing helmets and triple-riding and also for driving without driving-license and other documents.
The scores of two-wheelers were court challaned, police officials said.
The stay safe drive started in the morning on the old Srinagar-Jammu national at Drangbal against the two-wheelers and found scores of two-wheelers without helmets, SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad told Kashmir Reader.
He requested the general public, especially youth of the Saffron Town to ensure they wear their helmets and obtain proper documents from transport authorities and follow traffic rules for their own safety.
He also asked people not to park their vehicles on emergency roads especially hospital roads as it hampers transportation of emergency patients to the Sub district hospital Pampore.
