BUDGAM: Dryland Agriculture Research Station, SKUAST-K under Tribal Sub-Plan of AICRP on Forages organized farmers awareness programme-cum-input distribution event for tribal farmers of District Budgam on 1st August 2022 at Sitharan, Budgam. The programme, organized in collaboration with KVK Budgam, was attended by around 30 tribal farmers of Gujjerpathri Village of Tehsil Khag (Budgam). Prof. A. H. Mughal, ADR (Agri), Prof. Nasir A. Dar, Professor-cum Chief Scientist, Prof. N. S. Khuroo OIC AICRP-FC, Dr. Bilal A. Lone, Head KVK Budgam, Dr. Zahida Rashid, Agronomist (AICRP-FC) were among the prominent officers of the University present on the occasion.
The farmers were educated about scientific cultivation of fodder oats in high altitude areas of the valley together with importance of adoption of new crop technologies developed by the University for such zones. During the interaction, the farmers shared their field experiences related to their farm/crop activities with officers and scientists of the University and sought remedial measures.
On the occasion, Quality seed of fodder oats and agri- toolkits were distributed among the farmers. The farmers were insisted upon adopting new technologies including seed of released varieties and follow package of practices recommended by the University
