Two day Kick boxing championship begins at IUST

SRINAGAR: A two-day Kick Boxing Championship Tuesday started at Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora.
The two day long championship was inaugurated by Registrar, IUST Prof.Naseer Iqbal wherein 270 athletes participated. The event shall be for two days from 26-27 July 2022.
Welcoming the participants, Prof. Iqbal said, “Youth need to utilize their energies in a positive manner and sports provide an excellent platform for the same. Participation in competitive sports contributes to preparing the students to face and overcome challenges and also improves academic potential. Sports create a healthy environment and help to protect our young generations from evils like drug addiction”.
Sameer Wazir(Chairman, Sports Committee) infirmed the gathering that the university will be investing in the physical development of the students and will utilize its sports infrastructure for the overall development of the youth.
Thanking the participants and the sponsors, Dr. Hilal A Rather (Assistant Director, Physical Education & Sports) said, “Sports help to build a foundation for lifelong health and also help to form social and community bonds”.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion included SSP Awantipora,Mohammad Yousuf, Commanding Officer, 44RR, Colonel Raj Kumar Singh, Chairman Sports Committee, Sameer Wazir.
The event was organized by varsity’s Directorate of Physical Education & Sports, in collaboration with the district Pulwama Kickboxing Association and supported by 42RR,Victor Force.
