Three labourers from UP die in wall collapse at brick kiln in Pulwama

PAMPOREP: Three labourers from Uttar Pradesh, who were working in a brick kiln, died in a wall collapse incident in Kakapora area of Pulwama district on Thursday.
The three labourers were working in the brick kiln when a wall of the kiln suddenly collapsed on them, at Ukhoo village in Kakapora area. All three died on the spot, police officials told Kashmir Reader.
The victims were identified as Lukman Khan, son of Sulemaan, Raj Dev, son of Devinder Kumar, and Kalbi Khan, all residents of Uttar Pradesh.
Locals told Kashmir Reader that a number of non-local labourers work at the brick kiln in Ukhoo village.
Locals said that a portion of the kiln caved in and the labourers were crushed under bricks that fell from a stack. Fellow labourers rushed to the spot and pulled them out. The three were taken to Primary Health Centre Kakapora where doctors declared them brought dead.
Soon after the the incident, police rushed to spot and recorded the statements of fellow labourers.
Medical officer PHC Kakapora Dr Shahnawaz Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that the three labourers died as a result of the wall collapse.
He said that the incident occurred on Thursday evening. He said that the bodies were referred to Sub District Hospital Pampore for autopsy.
Police officials told Kashmir Reader that they have registered a case under relevant sections of law at police station Kakapora and further investigations have been started.
