94th ICAR Foundation Day celebrated across SKUAST-Kashmir KVKs

Srinagar: ICAR celebrated its 94th Foundation Day & Awards Ceremony – 2022 on Saturday which was telecasted live from ICAR-NewDelhi.
Director Extension Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi who supervised the programme here with all the KVKs of SKUAST-Kashmir along with the progressive farmers whose DFI was published by ICAR participated in the programme for viewing the programme and to have interaction with Agriculture minister and arrangement for the same was made at respective KVKs. The participants witnessed the inauguration of the programme by SNarendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Parshottam Rupala, Union Cabinet Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Kailash Chaudhary along with DG ICAR, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra.
During his address Narendra Singh Tomar said that the government’s multi-dimensional approach in agricultural research in the last eight years has resulted in a multi-fold increase in farmers’ income and Indian Council of Agricultural Research has been instrumental in realizing the dream of Doubling Farmers Income by 2022 of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, ICAR has documented the Success Stories of 75,000 Progressive Farmers and among them, Directorate of Extension & KVKs of SKUAST-Kashmir has contributed 1351 DFI success stories. During the programme, Tomar gave away 92 Excellence Awards in five categories to Agricultural Institutions, Centre’s of Agriculture Science, Agriculture Scientists and Farmers for their outstanding contribution in the field of Agricultural Science and Research.
In this connection a series of events were conducted across all the KVKs of SKUAST Kashmir. Prof. Nazir A. Ganai,Vice-Chancellor SKUAST Kashmir appreciated the role of KVKs in making the ICAR Foundation Day a grand success at a very short notice. Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi addressed the participants from Kashmir (JK UT) and Ladakh (UT) through virtual mode. He highlighted the role of ICAR and SKUAST-Kashmir in changing the agriculture and allied sector scenario of the nation and UT, respectively. He stressed farmers not to be complacent and strive for tripling their income through value addition and innovative marketing.
