Implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission reviewed at Bandipora

BANDIPORA: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad today reviewed the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the district.
JJM is a centrally sponsored programme aimed at providing tap water to every rural household.
At the outset, Officers gave a detailed presentation about JJM achievements so far. It was given out that implementation of JJM to produce desired results is in full swing in Bandipora.
Officers informed that 120 schemes worth Rs 400 crore have been incorporated in the district action plan under the scheme. They said JJM envisages construction of 14 borewell (Sources), 22 over head tanks, 55 filtration plants, Coverage of Schools in the district.
Joint Director Planning also reviewed the progress of already allocated 17 borewells, 6 OHTs. During the meeting 41 works were formally agreed upon by the District JJM committee, on which works shall start soon.
The meeting also discussed the tendering process by PHE Hyd circle Baramulla/Bandipora for award of works under JJM setup.
The Joint Director Planning urged the officers to expedite the process so that works on ground can be started at earliest for achieving targets and providing relief to the people.
The meeting held discussions on several aspects of implementation of JJM including status of tendering and administrative approval of retrofitting schemes, action plan for providing water facility to remaining HHCS in the district and several other issues of public importance.
JDP exhorted upon the officers to work in tandem to achieve desired results within the stipulated time frame. He articulated various components of JJM before the assembly.
The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer Hydraulic Circle Sopore, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Bandipora, AEEs and other concerned officers.
